Global Exctinction!

Hey everybody!

Take a look at this article. Ever wonder where your gas comes from? Remember, all posts should be at least 5 sentences long and filled with info.

  1. The volcano certainly caused an extinction of several species in the marine environment. That may also cause a disruption in the food chain. In addition the volcano became a major source of oil. Of the five mass extinctions, the volcano is the only one that was on impact with Earth. An odd side-effect of the mass extinction, the result of the anoxic event caused as an indirect result of the underwater volcanic eruptions, was that temperatures and carbon dioxide levels on the Earth's surface actually dropped. Its amazing how volcanic activity can effect our society in such a major way

  2. 93 million years ago volicanic activity under the sea caused a mass extntion of marine life. Organic matter spread across the ocean floor now called big black shale deposits, which are now used as major oil sources. The ocean was compleatly depleted of oxygen. One big side effect of the underwater volcanic eruptions was that the temperatures and carbon dioxide levels on Earth's surface dropped. When scientists researching these volcanic eruptions it helps to find out what happened with mass extention, and global warming.

  3. This volcano depleted the ocean of oxygen and caused a mass extinction of marine life. When all of these marine animals died off, they sank to the bottom of the ocean forming large shale deposits which are a source for petroleum products today. An odd side-effect of the extinction was a global decrease in temperature and carbon dioxide levels. After this extinction it took 10 to 50 thousand years for CO2 levels to rise again. Its incredible to see what a drastic effect an underwater volcanic eruption can have on the earth.

  5. A mass extinction of marine life happened 93 million years ago when an undersea volcano erupted. It released large carbon dioxide levels, which killed off many species in the ocean. It caused further oxygen depletion when the decomposed matter of the organisms sank to the bottom of the ocean. The raised carbon dioxide levels also lead scientists to the theory of global warming. On the positive side, the decomposed matter that sank to the sea floor turned into oil. This brought down the carbon dioxide levels and brought oxygen back to the ocean.

  6. 93 million years ago a mass extinction of marine life that was caused by a natural phenomenon. Because of it their are now shale deposits world wide from the organic matter accumulating from the bottom and is now used for petroleum. And from this entrants were released and caused a mass feeding of plants and animals which them when they died when they decomposed it helped the oxygen depletion which caused the mass extinction. Also as a side affect temperature and carbon dioxide levels dropped on earth. But eventually the organic matter returns to normal and the carbon dioxide levels also rose again.

  7. 94 million years ago a giant volcanic explosion in the sea may have killed much of the sea life at the time. As the life in the sea died, it created large amounts of petroleum deposits at the bottom of the ocean. As the volcano erupted, it released a large amounts of nutrients. This allowed animals and plants to flourish. When they died it depleted the oxygen levels in the ocean, but eventually the earth went back to normal levels.

  8. 90 to 100 million years ago volcanic eruptions cause mass extinction. The depletion of Oxygen allowed for mass amount of Sea life died. Large amount organic matter under the sea surface cause the creation of Petroleum.

  9. An undersea volcano ignited a mass extinction of marine life billions of years ago. This buried a thick organic mat on the seafloor. This also became a major source of oil due to new studies. This goes down in history as big event that altered the course of history and happens very rarely. This event included two consequences involving the release of nutrients which allowed mass feeding and growth of plants and organisms. Secondly, the result was a global oceanic anoxic event, where the ocean is completely depleted of oxygen.

  11. The underwater volcanic that went off made mass extinction to many sea animals. 93 years ago thick mat of organic matter at the bottom of the sea was buried. They say it was not as big as what killed the dinosaurs, but it was an extreme event that happen to earth. This is one of the biggest natural event that happen to earth. There was isotope levels of osmium found which is a indicator for volcanism in sea water. This event will be remembered in history forever.
