Please watch these three YOUTUBE videos featuring a discussion about modern astrophysics and the different opinions of these three presenters:

Video Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3:

Stephen Hawkins-

Father Robert Spitzer-

Deepak Chopra-

Please Answer these questions:
1.  What seemed to be the most interesting part of these discussions.

  1. 1. The most interesting part of the discussion is Hawking's idea that the universe had the ability to be created without a creator. Just because the universe had the ability to form on its own does not mean that there was not a creator who exists and even created the universe to form on its own. Science and Religion are able to both exist together, both theories can be tied together with simply realizing Hawking's discoveries could have all been put forth by a creator.

2.Stephen Hawking-Both Hawkings and Leonard Mlodinow both share the same view and both do not deny religion but state that the universe could be created without a creator. They stay away from their spiritual beliefs and focus on how it is possible according to modern day science WITHOUT religion even being a topic.

Father Robert Spitzer- Fr. of course has the same beliefs as the Catholic Church and has the idea that there is a creator(God). Although he does disagree with some points, but he does often agree with science and state that both science and God can exist together with the belief that God has created science.

Deepak Chopra- His views were the most difficult to understand because it seemed like he just threw around big fancy words. He seemed to agree with both sides and argue points for both sides and in the end I did not grasp onto what his view really was.

    3. I think that all of the men in the video, even Larry King, brought up very interesting points that can be very impacting on our society. Religion is a large part of the world today and there are definitely a lot of unanswered questions that maybe no one can ever answer. I think that if you go into the questions and listen to the opinions with a narrow mind you are a bit ignorant because I believe everyone should at least think of the possibility that both sides are correct and that science and religion can exist together.

  2. 1. The most interesting part is how they are saying that if a god didnt create the universe then the universe is made out of nothing.
    2. Steven Hawkings- His viewpoint is that a god might exist but science can explain the creation of a universe without the need of a god and that theology is unnecessary in the explanation of the universe.
Fr. Spitzer- His viewpoint is that God made the universe and he thinks Hawkings is capeable of oversights of his opinions.
    3. These opinions effect our society because many people are listening to these people talk about how science can explain the creation of a universe without the need of a god and many people get confused about that especially people who believe God created everything and questions about how the universe was created are still unanswered.

  3. 1. The most interesting part was the fact that Hawking thought the universe could create itself as if it is self aware. I also find it interesting that universe can be made by existing forces, but there seems to be no answer to where these forces come from. Another interesting thing is that both Deepak Chopra and Father Spitzer fail to provide how it would possible for God to be the cause of the universe because there is no explanation of what God came from.

2.Stephen Hawking - He presents the idea that while it may be possible for the universe to exist without a creator, it doesn't completely remove the possibility. Hawking does think however that Science and Religion are different things but don't necessarily conflict with eachother.

Robert Spitzer amd Deepak Chopra defend the idea of the existence of a God simply through idea that something can from nothing. Both Spitzer and Chopra agree however that it is possible for Science and Religion not to conflict with eachother and that Hawking is an intelligent man.

    3. The points are important because the difference between these scientific and religious beliefs have caused wars. Plus there is the fact that Religion still to this day deeply effects people.

  4. Blake, Hannah, and Tommy- I was really impressed with your opinions of what you saw. I'm glad to see you are really analyzing what these three thinkers have theorized. It really shows your ready for adult discussions you might encounter in college and later life...

  5. 1. I think the most interesting feature of the videos was that science and religion could coexist and the fact that Hawkings stated that if there is no God then the universe was made from nothing.
    2. Stephen hawkings- states the possibility of the world exsisting without a creator is very plausible and that science and religion can coexist with out confliction.
Robert spitzer/chopra- explore the fact the how something came from nothing and lean towards the world having a creator. God is our creator one and only creator.
    3. We live in a society that tends to believe everything they hear. With science and religion stating different facts people become confused. This topic has also lead to violence and war throughout the years.
