  1. I think I could make this journey as long as I was not alone because then it would be to lonesome. Thor’s theory that the Polynesian islands were settled by pre-Inca Peruvians was proven by the kon-tiki being able to sail the across the Pacific without any major problems. The most interesting part of his journey was how they dealt with the obstacles with the limited resources on the raft. The fact that they could catch sharks on the simple raft and how they made a sort of diving basket for when they needed to go under the raft to check the lashings is the most interesting. The thought that the men could deal with the sharks and all the other ocean obstacles with the limited resources they had on the primitive raft they were sailing shows how innovative Thor and his crew was. Also the random parrot that stayed with the crew for a short amount of time was amusing.

  3. I don't think I could make this journey because I have become to accustomed to modern comforts. I also wouldn't want to take the journey because I couldn't be at sea for that long and I would eventually miss my friends and relatives. I think he is correct about the Polynesians coming from South America because of the large amount of tall trees. I find that the vessel had no nails or modern carpentry.

  4. I think that I could make this journey because it would be fun. I think Thor's theory could be right because he was a smart person and it makes sense. The most interesting part of his journey was how he made his raft and sailed on it.

  5. I do not think that I could have made this journey. I wouldn't be able to be at sea for so long with such limited resources. I believe that his theory was true, by making the trip successfully with such simple and authentic resources. The most interesting part was when they found land and met the natives living there. Their ways of communications had to be basic, as they did not speak the same language.
